Nateq or Meta Business Agent: what changes on your bill and in your inbox.

Meta Business Agent is Meta's own AI for WhatsApp. Nateq is an AI customer service platform that answers on WhatsApp and on every other channel, then hands over to your team in one shared inbox. Here is how the two differ on billing, on the free entry point window, on channels, on Arabic and on the inbox your team works in.

  • Per-message, not per-token
  • No Meta message fee inside the 72-hour window
  • Voice, email and web chat too
  • One inbox for every channel, with summaries and routing

In short

Meta Business Agent is billed per token, as its own category since 1 August 2026, at $2.00 per million tokens (about 4–5 US cents per message according to Meta), and it is not free inside the 72-hour free entry point window. Replies from a third-party AI agent such as Nateq are service messages, billed by Meta per message at the recipient market's service rate, and carry no Meta message fee inside that window (the Nateq plan still applies). Nateq also covers voice, email and web chat in the same inbox, and hands conversations to your team there with the full history, a summary and routing rules you set.

What should decide between Nateq and Meta Business Agent?

  • A bill you can predict

Per-token billing varies with how long each answer is. A service reply is one charge per message at a published rate for the customer's country, so the cost of a conversation is the number of replies times a number you know in advance.

  • No Meta message fee in the 72-hour window

When a customer arrives from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad or a Facebook Page call-to-action, Meta charges no message fee for service messages inside the 72-hour free entry point window; your Nateq plan still applies. Meta Business Agent is charged per token inside that window.

  • Every channel, not only Meta's apps

Nateq answers on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, and also on phone calls, email and your website chat, all in one inbox with one history per customer.

  • Arabic as your customers write it

Nateq reads Gulf Arabic, including Saudi, Arabizi and Arabic mixed with English, and replies in the same register. Test any AI agent, ours included, with real messages from your customers before you choose.

  • One inbox your team works from

When a conversation needs a person, Nateq moves it to an agent in the same inbox your team uses for WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, calls, email and web chat, with the full history and a summary. Routing rules you set decide which topics always go to a person and who picks them up.

What one resolved conversation costs, market by market

Computed from our plan price and Meta's service rate for each market, beside Meta's own published estimates for Meta Business Agent. The answer depends on the market, so there is no single "cheaper" claim: each cell says whether Nateq is lower, close, or above Meta's estimate.

The formula

Nateq per resolved conversation = Team plan annual price per month ÷ included AI resolutions + messages × Meta's service rate for the market. That is $143.00 ÷ 2,000 = $0.0715 per conversation, plus the messages.

  • It assumes you use all of the Team plan's included resolutions (2,000 a month). If you use fewer, the plan's share of each conversation is higher.
  • Every message is counted as billed: the first 1,000 free service messages each month per number, and replies inside the 72-hour window, which carry no Meta message fee, are not subtracted. Both only lower Nateq's side.
  • The Team plan also covers the shared inbox, ticketing, knowledge base, automation, your team's seats and channels beyond WhatsApp; Meta's estimate covers the agent's replies only.

How it works

  1. 1

    Count your replies

Take a month of WhatsApp conversations and count the outbound messages per resolved conversation. That is the multiplier on your service-message bill.

  2. 2

    Check where conversations start

If many start from Click-to-WhatsApp ads, the 72-hour free window matters, and so does whether your agent's replies carry a Meta fee inside it.

  3. 3

    Test with real messages

Run both on messages your customers actually sent, in their dialect, and compare the answers and the handoffs.

Questions about Nateq and Meta Business Agent

What is Meta Business Agent?

Meta's own AI agent for business messaging. Since 1 August 2026 it is a separate billing category at $2.00 per million tokens, which Meta puts at about 4–5 US cents per message.

How are Nateq's replies on WhatsApp billed?

As service messages. Meta charges your own WhatsApp Business Account one fee per message at the service rate for the customer's country, with no markup from Nateq. The first 1,000 service messages each calendar month are free on each business phone number. The allowance covers service messages only, not utility, authentication or marketing messages, and there are no volume tiers beyond it. A business that uses several WhatsApp numbers gets the allowance on each number. What you pay Nateq is your plan, on the pricing page.

Is either one free inside the 72-hour window?

Meta charges no message fee for service messages inside the 72-hour free entry point window, including replies from a third-party AI agent such as Nateq; your Nateq plan still applies. Meta Business Agent is charged per token inside that window.

Which is cheaper?

It depends on the market. The table on this page works out Nateq's cost per resolved conversation (plan price ÷ included resolutions, plus messages at Meta's service rate) for each GCC market and Egypt, beside Meta's own estimates for Meta Business Agent. In most of those markets Nateq comes out lower; in some it is close, and in Kuwait, where Meta's service rate is highest, Meta's estimate is lower. Conversations that start from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad lower Nateq's side further, because Meta charges no message fee for service messages in the 72-hour window.

Can Nateq hand a conversation to my team?

Yes. The conversation moves to an agent in the same inbox with the full history and a summary, and you choose which topics always go to a person.
